In 2021 Carly signed on to direct Love's Bitter Mystery - a then immersive staged piece. In the height of the pandemic in 2022 after several postponements, the decision was made with the safety of cast, crew, and audience in mind to make a feature film, leaving the crew with only two weeks pre-production time.

Filming was completed in 6 days.

"Love’s Bitter Mystery surpassed all my expectations… Choosing the setting of the now somewhat derelict, gothic, post-gold-boom mansion, Villa Alba in Melbourne’s Kew, to film Love’s Bitter Mystery was a masterstroke.”

Written on walks along the St Kilda foreshore in 2021's Melbourne lockdown, Carly created Bumbles & Moz with now duo partner, Kylie Morrigan.

The plot followed the semi-autobiographical story of Carly & Kylie's friendship, chasing two next-door loners through their journey to friendship, forming a band, and finding their inner goddesses.

Bumbles & Moz was directed, written and designed by Carly, with original music from Morrigan & Wilding. It was one of the first shows to be presented after the 2021 lockdowns in Melbourne.

"Bumbles and Moz is at once heart-warming, funny, challenging, melancholy and moving, kind of like a country song really. It is a delightful and charming tale of female friendship and finding your own inner Celtic goddess.”
